Full of Thanksgiving leftovers…..Here we are, the WPIAL District 7 Finals, for the final time, from Heinz Field….for those of you who are one dimensional assclowns and do not know your own district number….Last week we posted a record of 6 victories and only 2 defeats….thus taking the 2015 postseason total to 48 victories and only 8 defeats, 85%….the 2015 campaign total now stands at 123 victories and 23 defeats, 84%....

Last season, PToThePowerOf2 posted a 2-2 record at Ketchup Bottle on the North Shore for the D7 finals….this season, PToThePowerOf2 aims for the sweep….

We also will make a few selections on other district championship matchups as well this week, since most of my largest critics have to call me or tweet to me online @PToThePowerOf2, to find out what occurred outside of the district.  True football fans you are…..

Welcome back to my friends and followers around the commonwealth! So nice to have you back for another trip on the PIAA football playoff train.

As we always say, Let’s Get To Work….

CLASS ‘A’ Championship - #1 Clairton Bears (12-0) vs #3 Jeannette Jayhawks (11-1) – 11:00am Saturday

Another collision of these two highly talented teams will get the party started on Saturday….The Bears blasted the Jayhawks in week 6 of the regular season by the score of 56-29. The Jayhawks last week upended North Catholic 22-14 and the Bears embarrassed Frazier, 56-15.  Jayhawks will look to QB Gio Vonne Sanders who has 1,478 yards and has 14 touchdowns on the season. Jayhawks RB Kareem Hall will play a major role if the Jayhawks look to upset the Bears. The Bears however are yet again on Heinz Field turf seeking their 8th title in 10 years. Clairton duo Lamont Wade and Harrison Dreher are a nightmare to contend with as these two have combined for 2,000 yards rushing and 28 touchdowns. Clairton is averaging a staggering 59 points per game and has outscored their playoff foes in this year’s campaign 172 to 42. PToThePowerOf2 must stay with the preseason champion.

CLASS ‘AA’ Championship - #1 South Fayette Lions (12-0) vs #2 Aliquippa Quips (12-0) – 5:00pm Saturday

Dejavu? Not likely, just another D7 title on the line for the same 2 teams that have dominated Class ‘AA’ for the past 3 seasons.  A third rematch of these two powerhouses. South Fayette last week squeaked past AA foe Steel Valley, 27-19. Aliquippa meanwhile destroyed Cinderella Freeport, 36-14. Last season the Lions defeated the Quips enroute to their second WPIAL title and back-to-back PIAA championship, 31-22. South Fayette is riding a 44 game win streak dating back 2 seasons. Lions Sophomore QB Drew Saxton leads the way for the offense attack, this season he has 1,546 yards passing with 27 touchdowns. The Lions will rely on their ground attack to setup the passing game with RB Hunter Hayes who has over 1,200 yards on the season and has over 15 touchdowns. South Fayette’s defense has only allowed an average of 8.3 points per game. Aliquippa seeks revenge entering this contest, revenge of 2 failed opportunities. RB Kaezon Pugh leads the Quips into battle with 1,829 yards rushing with 27 touchdowns. Aliquippa has made a home away from home at Heinz Field. The Quips are looking for their record 17th WPIAL Championship. A team playing for #24 strong. It will take more than a 44 game win streak to get in their way.

CLASS ‘AAA’ Championship - #1 Central Valley Warriors (11-1) vs #6 Thomas Jefferson Jaguars (10-2) – 8:00pm Saturday

The AAA championship looks to be a good one from Heinz on Saturday in the finale of the WPIAL contests to ever be played at Heinz.  Central Valley enters by barely beating Mars last week, 48-41. Thomas Jefferson rolled Franklin Regional, 34-21.  Warriors QB Chris Callaghan has 2,300 yards passing with 14 touchdowns on the season. The Warriors look to repeat to make it a back-to-back after defeating parkway rival West Allegheny last season to give them their 3rd WPIAL title. Standing in their way is the 5 time WPIAL champion Thomas Jefferson Jaguars who got off to an 0-2 start this season with losses to Ringgold and Belle Vernon. RB Quinton Hill has over 1,300 yards and 23 touchdowns this season. The Jaguars have outscored their opponents since week three by the score of 389-69 and have pitched 5 shutouts. A 7 year drought will come to a close for TJ. Title number 6 on deck for Bill Cherpak & Company.

CLASS ‘AAAA’ Championship - #2 Penn-Trafford Warriors (12-0) vs #5 Pittsburgh Central Catholic Vikings (11-1) – 2:00pm Saturday

Once Class ‘A’ is finished, the stands will pack full of AAAA fans and alumni to watch a classic from the awful turf at Heinz. The Central Catholic Vikings vs The Penn Trafford Warriors. Penn Trafford enters by winning another thriller by dethroning the 2014 champions, Pine Richland, 38 to 34. Central Catholic took Woodland Hills to the woodshed by the final tally of 24-6. Central Catholic will seek their 5th WPIAL Championship on Saturday with QB Troy Fisher taking the snaps. Fisher has 1,140 yards passing with 14 touchdowns on the season. The Vikings have a dynamic RB in division 1 recruit Ronnie Jones who has 18 touchdowns with 1,259 yards rushing. Penn Trafford ended its drought of D7 final appearances and now look to QB Brett Laffoon to get them their first title. Laffoon has thrown for an amazing 2,304 yards with 31 touchdowns. WR Timmy Vecchio has over 1,000 yards receiving and has 20 touchdown receptions. RB Jonah Lisbon has over 1,000 yards rushing with 18 touchdowns. A balanced offense that can score quickly….but they haven’t seen a defense this big and this fast up front with the Vikings.
