W.P.I.A.L. High School Football Predictions: Week 4

Each week from the start of the WPIAL season through the PIAA State Finals, Pittsburgh SportsNation brings you the best, uncensored, no holds barred predictions by our local high school football guru who goes by the moniker “P To The Power of 2”.

He is one of our underground writers who covers the hard hitting action of WPIAL High School Football in Western Pennsylvania. Or is it she...? Either way, we'll never tell! (Unless you have a crisp $100 bill in hand)

By P To The Power of 2

For the first time in 5 seasons of prognostication, PToThePowerOf2 was walloped in week 3, suffering 4 defeats! This taking the 2017 season total to 25 victories and 5 defeats. 83% will not be accepted. This record has caused loss of sleep and restless nights. We've tried everything! Sleeping pills, counting sheep, listening to Doctor Ben Carson give a speech, none of them will work, so we've decided to call in the big guns. Does anyone have Michael Jackson doctors phone #?

As Matt Foley would say, "How do we get this thing back on the right track?"....before we end up living in a van, down by the river.....

Pine Richland Rams (4-0) vs Bethel Park Black Hawks (3-0)

7:30pm Friday from Black Hawk Stadium

Might be the best game of the night in the state of Pennsylvania!

Bethel Park enters this contest by defeating Norwin, 27-7. QB Luke Surunis will lead the attack for the Black Hawks. Last week, he was 11-for-20 for 165 yards and 2 touchdowns. RB Tanner Volpatti is the key piece to the offense attack! On the season, 367 yards, 9 touchdowns all on 50 carries. He'll be partnered up with another RB in John Doleno who has 252 yards, 3 touchdowns on only 23 carries. Bethel Park will need to lean on their defense as they have held their opponents average to only 9 points per game.

QB Phil Jurkovec continues to keep the up-tempo offensive machine at high-speed. On the season Jurkovec is 70-for-98 for 1,117 yards and 10 touchdowns with only 2 interceptions. RB Jordan Crawford has 237 yards on the ground on 36 carries. Rams receiving core will be lead by Jason DeFrancisis who has 294 yards on 19 receptions. Ray Falcone has 382 yards on 18 receptions and has 6 touchdowns. Pine Richland has a defense as well. The Rams have only allowed their opponents to score an average of 10 points per game.

Last week Penn Hills speed kept them in the game for the 1st half... Bethel Park does not have the speed to keep up with the Rams...

Quaker Valley Quakers (4-0) vs Central Valley Warriors (3-1)

7:00pm Friday from Sarge Alberts Stadium

This contest will commence from the most inferior location in the western hemisphere. Let's not forget the freeloading drunks on the hill!

After being embarrassed in week zero to the hands of South Fayette, Central Valley has won three consecutive games, most recently defeating North Catholic, 52-28. QB Nico Battisti is out after a knee injury last week, ending his season, insert sophomore QB Jawon Hall who only has 2 passing attempts, but rushed for a 75 yard touchdown last week, late in the 4th quarter. Central Valley will turn their offense over to RB Jay Anzio and Danny Santia, who both had over 100 yards in last weeks victory.

Quaker Valley, meanwhile, enters after crushing Beaver 45-21 last week. The Quakers slapped 30 unanswered points on the Bobcats in the second half after trailing, 21-15 at the end of the 2nd quarter. QB Ricky Gus last week scored 5 touchdowns! 4 of them rushing and 1 passing. Gus had 67 yards total rushing and 133 passing. RB Ethan Moore will tote the rock as well for the Quakers.

Quaker Valley woke up the doubters last week. Or is Beaver just that bad? We'll find out Friday... Home cooking will keep it close...

  1. Freeloading drunks on the Hill!!! Those people cheer on CV week in and week out!! They buy 50/50 and programs! They donate to the organizations and you call them freeloading drunks because they may have a beer in their hand and actually have the best view for a CV game??
