W.P.I.A.L. High School Football Predictions: Semifinals

Each week from the start of the WPIAL season through the PIAA State Finals, Pittsburgh SportsNation brings you the best, uncensored, no holds barred predictions by our local high school football guru who goes by the moniker “P To The Power of 2”.

He is one of our underground writers who covers the hard hitting action of WPIAL High School Football in Western Pennsylvania. Or is it she...? Either way, we'll never tell! (Unless you have a crisp $100 bill in hand)
By P To The Power of 2

As we have returned from our trip to the ever beautiful Miami to the frigged temps of the northeast, the 2017 postseason continues.

We’ve reached the Quarterfinals in Class ‘A’ & Class ‘AA’ and the Semifinals for 3-A thru 6-A. PToThePowerOf2 bitched slapped the haters square in the face last week, posting at 30-2 record for the opening round of the playoffs. A winning percentage of 94%! Thus also raising the overall season total, higher than punch total from Rene Boucher to Rand Paul, to 99 victories and only 20 defeats, 83%.

Neutral site contests this week, we will provide you with two quick bites for this week……Let’s get to work!

Class ‘AAA’

#3 Seton LaSalle Rebels (9-1) vs # 2 Quaker Valley Quakers (10-1)

Friday, 7:30pm from Martorelli Stadium in North Hills, where Anthony Morelli now takes out the trash!

The third seed Rebels will meet up with the second seed Quakers for the second time this season. In their first meeting in week 8, Quaker Valley defeated Seton LaSalle with ease. The final score reading Quakers 42, Rebels 7. Quaker Valley QB Ricky Guss has 1,630 yards passing, 785 yards rushing and has 24 touchdowns. Quakers WR Isaiah McNair continues to be a matchup nightmare for opponents as he has 676 yards receiving and 13 touchdowns.

Seton LaSalle will look to avenge their only loss by looking to RB Lionel Deanes who has 2,056 rushing yards and has 27 touchdowns. Sources inform us that Quaker Valley has injuries they are not informing everyone else about…hmmm….closer than the experts think….overtime? Maybe!

Class ‘AAAA’

#3 Thomas Jefferson Jaguars (9-1) vs #2 Belle Vernon Leopards (10-0)

Friday, 7:30pm from Baldwin High School.

Belle Vernon defeated Thomas Jefferson earlier this season, 21-17. In that contest Thomas Jefferson committed 4 turnovers, giving Belle Vernon plenty of opportunities to escape the Jaguars. Thomas Jefferson will continue to feed RB Justin Vigna who has 1,498 yards on the season with 21 touchdowns. QB Shane Stump has 1,330 yards passing with 21 touchdowns. Belle Vernon QB Jared Hartman has thrown for 928 yards and has 15 touchdowns. RB Mason Pascoe has 788 yards rushing this season with 6 touchdowns.
