Week 2 is now upon us and PToThePowerOf2 kept growing the line haters around the building by posting a 9-1 record to begin the 2015 campaign. That’s 90% folks!  Don’t forget to follow PToThePowerOf2 on twitter @PToThePowerOf2!

PToThePowerOf2 witnessed plenty of blowouts and a couple of surprises.

Last week in Class ‘AAA’ the King of the Big 10 conference, Thomas Jefferson, fell to Ringgold, 27 to 20, allowing 19 unanswered 4th quarter points. Their first in-conference loss in 8 seasons! Also, former WPIAL Champion Central Valley fell to Montour, 17-14.

Week 2 is now here….let’s get to work….

Class ‘AAAA’

North Allegheny Tigers (1-0) vs Pine Richland Rams (1-0)

Friday at 7pm from the ever beautiful complex at Pine Richland High.  Last weekend, the Tigers of North Allegheny were able to overcome a weather delay Friday night and a 14-0 deficit after 1 quarter of play and defeated Seneca Valley , 34-24.  Pine Richland , also delayed by weather, finished their baptism of Shaler, 63-7.  Pine Richland was led by TB Donald Bryant who scored 4 touchdowns and had 94 yards rushing.  Also, least not forget new sophomore QB Phil Jurkovec who had 105 rushing and 142 yards via flight.  Not a bad start for having some large shoes to fill after the departure of  Ben DiNucci.  Art Walker’s NA Tigers lost QB Riley Trueman last week.  Junior Ethan Maenza took over the reigns and he did not disappoint as he rushed for 115 yards, threw for 40 yards and had a touchdown.  The Tigers will also look to TB Michael Pope who had 2 touchdowns with 106 yards all on 29 touches.  Last season was a game to remember. Will this one be the same? Time will tell.  The Pine Richland student section will be incredible as always.  PToThePowerOf2 believes that the early matchup favors the home team……Pine Richland over North Allegheny

Class ‘AAA’

Montour Spartans (1-0) vs New Castle Red Hurricanes (0-1)

Friday at 7pm from the prison yard in New Castle …Don’t forget to leave all drug paraphernalia and weapons in your car.  A week ago, the Red Hurricanes got Katrinad out of Imperial by Bobby Palko’s Indians, 41-14.  Montour was also on the road in week1, Lou Cerro & crew silenced and dethroned the drunks on the hill in Central Valley with a late field goal, 17-14.  Senior Hurricane QB Patrick Minenok was able to get the 14 points last week in the loss.  Joe Cowart’s crew will look to regroup.  Montour will look to TB David Haseleu, who rushed for 99 yards last week and had a touchdown for the Spartans. A season ago, Montour crushed New Castle . PToThePowerOf2 doesn’t believe a blowout will occur, closer than the experts think…..Montour squeaks by New Castle ……Montour over New Castle

Class ‘AA’

Highlands Golden Rams (1-0) vs Apollo-Ridge Vikings (1-0)

Friday at 7pm.  How could you forget last years amazing game between these two Allegheny Conference Rivals?  Last year, at the mid-way point of the season, the Golden Rams defeated the Vikings 28-27, thus leading to the conference title.  Last week, the Golden Rams fell behind early 18-0 to Summit Academy , but quickly rebounded and defeated the Knights, 42-24.  Apollo-Ridge got caught sleepwalking and got past the Eagles of Keystone Oaks, 37-34.  Highlands will look to dual threat QB Bredyan Thimons who rushed for 100 yards and tossed the rock for 200.  Apollo Ridge will counter with Junior TB Duane Brown who had 165 yards rushing and 150 receiving yards and had 5 touchdowns.  Another close one……should be a dandy…..Highlands over Apollo-Ridge

Class ‘A’

Fort Cherry Rangers (1-0) vs Brentwood Spartans (1-0)

Friday at 7:30pm.  Brentwood defeated Fort Cherry last year, 17-14.  Fort Cherry in week 1 defeated OLSH, 28-14 and Brentwood defeated Vincentian Academy , 20-14.  Fort Cherry will rely heavily on TB Nick Cook who had 3 touchdowns last week and also led the team in receiving yards with 115 yards.  Fort Cherry returns the entire offensive line this season including all-conference G Brian Carnegie.  QB Devon Brown had 180 yards passing and 2 touchdowns in week 1.  Brentwood looks to TB Pat Carr, who rushed for 100 yards and 1 touchdown last week.  The Spartans have taken 5 of the past 6 matchups between the two squads.  Nothing changes…..Brentwood over Fort Cherry

And the others…..

Woodland Hills over Bethel Park
Mars over Armstrong
Ambridge over Hopewell
New Brighton over Ellwood City
Aliquippa over Laurel
Beaver Falls over Southmoreland
