W.P.I.A.L. High School Football Predictions: Week 3

Each week from the start of the season until the P.I.A.A. State Finals, Pittsburgh SportsNation will bring you uncensored, no holds barred predictions by our local high school football guru who goes by the moniker “P To The Power of 2”. He is one of our underground writers who covers the hard hitting action in W.P.I.A.L. High School Football in Western Pennsylvania. Or is it she...? Either way, we'll never tell!

Week 3 is upon us and PToThePowerOf2 continues to silence the critics and haters by posting another 9-1 record last week, thus raising the season total quicker than Jamal Charles fumbling in his own redzone! 18 wins and only 2 defeats…..90%!  As PToThePowerOf2 is out on vacation, we only have time for a few short previews and selections.

Let’s get to work!

Class ‘AAAA’

Central Catholic Vikings (2-0) vs North Allegheny Tigers (1-1)

Friday night, 730pm from Newman Stadium in Wexford in a Quad North Conference Showdown.   Last week, North Allegheny was defeated at Pine Richland by the final score of 28-14 and Central Catholic crushed Shaler to the tune of 42-6.  North Allegheny will be led into battle by QB Ethan Maenza who tossed for 237 yards and 1 touchdown last week, but also threw 3 interceptions.  Central Catholic will continue to pound the rock with TB Ronnie Jones and Vinney Emanuele, who both have rushed for over 200 yards each.  Jones has 202 yards on 20 carries and Emanuele has 251 yards on 28 carries. North Allegheny better find a way to win this one, if not, it could crush all hopes of a playoff berth.  Central Catholic over North Allegheny

Gateway Gators (2-0) vs Hampton Talbots (2-0)

A Greater Allegheny Conference game.  Hampton last week defeated Indiana 32-27 in a thriller and Gateway crushed Perry Academy, 49-0.  Hampton will be led by QB Ross Anderson who went 12 of 15 for 191 yards and 3 touchdowns. The Talbots are scoring roughly around 40 points per game in the first 2 weeks.  TB Matt Rech is the leading rusher for the Talbots at 350 yards.  Gateway will rely on their stout defense.  The Gators have held their first 2 opponents to under 118 yards total offense.  Gators QB Brady Walker has 208 yards passing this season with 1 touchdown.  Hampton over Gateway
